ABOUT WITHOUT WALLS

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is insight. "

It is in the fear of the Lord that we make this statement. It is made with humility as we continue to contend for the faith (Jude 1:3) and seek to be of the same mind, with Jesus as our example. We encourage all Without Walls leaders, parents and students to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, as God works out His will in us (Philippians 2).

Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existent, in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:4-6.

God the Father

We believe in God the Father as the creator of heaven and earth, infinite in wisdom and holiness, perfect, measureless in power, who hears and answers prayer and saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. He is sovereign and deserving of all worship and praise. Genesis 1:1; 1 Kings 8:23; Nehemiah 9:6; Psalm 90:2; Psalm 96:4; Psalm 103:19; Matthew 5:48; John 3:16; Ephesians 1:11; 1 Timothy 1:17; Revelation 4:11.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, the promised sinless Messiah, fully God and fully man, was crucified, buried, and raised to life as an atoning sacrifice for our sins, and ascended to heaven to the right had of the Father in power and glory to intercede on our behalf until he returns. Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-4; John 1:29; Acts 1:11; Acts 2:22-24; Romans 8:34l 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4; and Hebrews 4:15.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, along with the Father and Son, and makes unbelievers aware of their need for Christ, draws people to repentance and salvation, indwells believers for understanding the Word of God, and empowers believers for Godly obedience and ministry. We believe the Holy Spirit also empowers believers through spiritual gifts for the work of ministry and building up the body of Christ. The Holy Spirit is a seal of salvation, and evidenced in the believer’s life as fruit. Matthew 3:11; John 3:5-8; Acts 1:8; Acts 4:31; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Galatians 5:16-18; Colossians 2:6-10; Ephesians 1:13-14, Galatians 5:22-23

The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the holy, inspired, inerrant, and complete revelation of God revealing Himself to all people and revealing His love for all people. 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; John 3:16.

Creation and the Human Condition

We believe that the Scriptures provide a literal and historical account of God’s creation of all things. The climax of the six days of creation was the special, immediate and personal creation of human life. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were directly created, not evolved from previous life forms. God created humans, male and female, in His image. Human life, sexual identity and roles are aspects of God’s creative design. From creation, marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman that should be marked by sexual purity, by sacrificial male leadership, and by recognizing the divine blessing of children, including preborn children. Adam and Eve, though created in perfection, sinned, warranting physical death, spiritual death, and eternal separation from God. Consequently, all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and are sinners in thought, word, and deed.

Genesis 1:1-27, 2:7-25, 3:1-24, Psalm 127:3-5 Romans 1:8-32, 3:10-19, 5:12-19 Ephesians 5:22-33, Colossians 3:18-19

Sin

We believe God alone in his holiness has the authority to define which thoughts, words or deeds constitute sin, and these sins have been revealed through the Word of God. We believe all have sinned, and sin separates us from God and leads to eternal death. We believe that while sins have varying earthly consequences based upon the rules of law set up by mankind, all sins have the same eternal consequence of death and separation from God. We believe the eternal consequences of sins cannot be removed by good works. We believe that the Holy Spirit prompts the recognition of sin, which leads to confession and repentance, the lifelong process of a believer being sanctified. We believe in the confession of sin and God’s faithfulness to forgive. Mark 7:21-23; Romans 1:29-31; Romans 3:23; Galatians 5:19-21; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; James 1:14-15; James 4:17; James 5:16; 1 John 1:9.

Salvation

We believe salvation is a free gift of God, and that those placing their faith in Jesus Christ alone will be forgiven of their sins and given eternal life, justified before God. We believe this is only possible through Jesus Christ’s substitutionary, atoning death and bodily resurrection. We believe salvation is received by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, and no ordinance, ritual, work, or any other activity is required in order to receive salvation. We believe that the Holy Spirit draws out the repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ resulting in a life made new in Christ Jesus. Luke 24:46-47; John 4:16; Acts 4:11-12; Romans 3:21-24.

Evangelism, Discipleship and Sanctification

We believe that evangelism is the process of sharing the gospel relationally, with gentleness and respect, with people who don’t yet know Jesus Christ. This is a responsibility of all believers of Jesus Christ, as commanded by Jesus in the Great Commission. When a person becomes a believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior they become a disciple, and through the Holy Spirit have all that is needed to live a godly life and evangelize. The process of sanctification, becoming like Jesus, is life long and requires humility to allow the Holy Spirit to bring our fleshly nature into submission. Mark 16:15, John 17:18, Acts 1:8, 1 Peter 3:3=15 Romans 6:1-14, Romans 12:1, Galatians 5:16-25

THE GOSPEL

Without Walls has adopted the Dare2Share method of understanding and sharing the gospel.

The Gospel (“good news of Jesus”) tells the whole story of creation from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22. It is a clear and simple message that has a deep and profound impact on those who receive it by faith. Dare 2 Share unpacks this story in six simple statements that spell out GOSPEL in acrostic form as follows.

God created us to be with Him. (Genesis 1-2)

Our sins separate us from God. (Genesis 3)

Sins cannot be removed by good deeds. (Genesis 4 - Malachi 4)

Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again. (Matthew - Luke)

Everyone who trusts in him alone has eternal life. (John)

Life with Jesus starts now and lasts forever. (Acts - Revelation)
